About our blog

This book review blog was established in April, 2009, by the fifth through eighth graders and Roberta Jordan at The Center for Teaching and Learning. CTL is a demonstration school in Edgecomb, Maine, founded by educator and author Nancie Atwell.
Most CTL students read forty to fifty books a year by the time they reach middle school. As a result, we hope these pages will soon be filled with teacher-edited reviews of the books that they both loved and hated. There won’t be a lot of graphics, contests, or gimmicks, but we do hope there will be a lot of good content. Most of all, we hope it will be a way for middle school readers in Maine and beyond to share information and ideas about books and authors of all kinds.
Because this is a school-sponsored blog, all posts, responses, and comments are reviewed and approved by the blog administrator before they are published. If you are a middle school student, or a teacher of one, and would like to join this community of readers as a contributor, please contact Krista Woodbridge, the blog administrator, by sending her an e-mail to info@c-t-l.org.
And don’t forget to check out the lists of CTL students favorite books, which can be accessed via the “Kids Recommend” and “High School Readers” links on the home page of the school web site (www.c-t-l.org/). In the near future, we hope that if a book on the list is reviewed in the blog, the title will be a link that takes you to the review.
